What their label says...
A lot has happened in the of Montreal camp since the release of their last album 'Aldhils Arboretum'. Kevin has tied the knot with his Norwegian sweetheart, the band has moved out of the country house they were sharing, Jamey has moved to New York City, Andy has gone back to school, new faces have arrived and old faces have departed. Derek has left the band in an amicable fashion to focus more time on Circulatory System and has been replaced by Nina Barnes, Bryan Poole, who was the original of Montreal bassist, has rejoined the group on guitar and mutli instrumentalist Jason Nesmith has joined on double drums (among other things). Dottie and Jamey are thankfully still in the band.
The band's new album titled Satanic Panic in The Attic was recorded in Athens, Georgia in Kevin's bedrooom studio. This record is more of a solo album as Kevin played almost all of the instruments. The sound of the record is a little bit of a departure from past releases. The influence of 1970's Afrobeat and 1980's electro clash can be heard mingling with the Ray Davies and Os Mutantes-isms.
