This works much like records by the Caretaker do; the sound of old classical-based music obscured by the crackling, rapidly decaying grooves of a 5" lathe cut record. It's kind of perverse, you can clearly hear some beautiful, tender piano-based music playing but it sounds, ghostly and removed; frozen in time if you may and contaminated by the surface noise...it's like the music has been buried then dug up, covered in filth and worms. I think this kind of thing is a bit of a collectors' novelty really. Lathe cuts are awful sounding things and they can fuck right off if they ever think they're invading my record collection but there's a seriously passionate pool of hoarder types who love the hand-made scarcity of them so dearly they never stick around on our shelves, even less likely when it's a double headed behemoth gracing them such as these two respected tinklers. The Nils Frahm one sold out in 5 seconds or something. Overnight anyway. Copies of this won't be around come our weekly update so don't sit there gawping, bang one in your cart. You can flog it for loads if you change yer mind anyway...
