Can't say I know much about these folks or the band they we're previously part of. The press release tells me they are as much influenced by Four Tet as the Pet Shop Boys which got me excited for second but on listening it's apparent that this has more in common with bedroom produced indie pop than dance music. Led by a fine piano motif with only dual boy/girl vocals and a smattering of synths and strings for company, 'Death In Portugal' is a rather sad little ditty that builds to a fittingly casual crescendo. Flip and you get a remix 'El Baile', one of the highlights from their last outing. Again, this one relies on a simple piano motif but this time we're treated to some beats. It's sounds like something that might be used to accompany footage of the Olympics and bounces around with a naive momentum.
