Liking this 'Parallels' tune a lot. Can't say I've been that impressed with The Soft Moon on previous listens but they've pulled out the krautrock vibes for this cheeky 45 and it totally suits them. Repetitive uptempo drums play off a semi-gothic sounding, almost Joy Division-esque bassline drenched in chorus effects and propped up by ghostly vocal wails and ambient synths. It's a drifter with no discernible beginning or end and that's what makes it sooo good. The B-side is equally as spooky and spaced out. It's making me queasy with it's hypnotic, deep-fried guitar line and deep throated drone chants. On White Wax! Ace!

What their label says...

Four new singles from Captured Tracks in one hit, this is some serious pop intent here. Here's a two sided burner from Luis Vasquez' Soft Moon. "Parallels" features sprawling landscapes of jaunting rhythms and pulsating basslines, like some sort of weird meld where krautrock meets Blade Runner. WHITE WAX! "The band is one of the long line of lush, dark pop bands that sprouted out of the tail end of 80's post-punk and shoegaze. The Soft Moon pick up the very best elements of those movements and craft a sound that.s not unlike anything out there." - Hypetrak
