Allo Darlin' !!!......... Anyway enough of the beginnings of my chat up lines. In fact here is a single by a band called Allo Darlin' which is one of those odd indie pop things with strummy guitars and alternating female and male vocals. Its quite a shock when the male vocal comes in - kind of comical. Anyway the lead track is sort of an 'I Got You Babe' for the c86 revivalists. Theres some really nice slide guitar/pedal steel stuff on here and that continues onto the very mellow B side which has a touch of the Mazzy Star about it. Not bad at all. <br/>

What their label says...

For Fans Of: Magnetic Fields, Camera Obscura, Hefner, Kimya Dawson, Jens Lekman, The Lucksmiths. Allo Darlin' is the music of Australian-born, London-based songwriter Elizabeth Morris. Originally from a country town in Queensland, Elizabeth moved to London in 2005 and, inspired to write songs by her purchase of a ukulele from the famous Duke of Uke shop in Brick Lane, began to make music. A little later Elizabeth hooked up with Paul Rains (guitar), Bill Botting (bass) and Michael Collins (drums) and, augmented by Terry Edwards of Tindersticks/Gallon Drunk fame on trumpet and sax, cut a single, “Henry Rollins Don't Dance”, released in Summer 2009 on the cult WeePOP label. Much to their surprise, “Henry Rollins” started getting airplay on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, XFM and the like, and glowing reviews in places such as the Metro, The Fly and The Guardian, the latter calling it "the best indiepop song for years".

Now signed to Fortuna POP!, home of 2009’s biggest indie success story The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, “Dreaming” is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album, recorded at Soup Studios (The Wave Pictures, Let’s Wrestle) below the Duke of Uke and scheduled for release in May. The first single “The Polaroid Song” was named by Drowned In Sound as one of the 50 best singles of 2009. Probably the only disco song in the world to feature ukulele and lap steel, “Dreaming” is a melancholy toe-tapper of a duet with Monster Bobby of The Pipettes, who turned in a guest vocal so bass-worryingly low that he lost a filling. A paean to going out dancing and falling in love in a cold climate it’s perfect for the sub-Arctic conditions of the current winter. Flip it over and B-side You Still Send Me is a total heartbreaker, recorded absolutely live in the studio, vocals and all, with every breath and creak audible.
