It seems as though F, our favourite French dubstepper, is releasing his new album split over three separate vinyl releases. I can't remember a great deal about the first entry but Brian wrote a really insightful review of it if you'd care to check back. I think I was a little underwhelmed, as I have been with his last couple of releases which didn't reach the heights of his first two twelve's for my money, but this new double pack is definitely getting back there. 'On the Corner' has a wonderfully nimble and pacey garage feel, put together with the ultra-high attention to production detail we've come to expect from this fella. 'Spacewalker' brings the dubby synths from the bottom of the abyss while 'Funk Injection' is almost Martyn-esque in feel, morphing from two-step to techno and back again. Even the couple of more workmanlike tracks are high quality head-nodders so I don't have any qualms in giving this one a hearty thumbs up for the dubstep-starved masses.

F is the alter ego of French producer and DJ Florent Aupetit. Florent
discovered drum and bass as a teenager, an early enthusiasm which pushed
him straight out to buy records and a pair of decks. Slowly after this
he set foot on the production path, and began making drum and bass
tracks using Fruity Loops. He began to develop a passion and deepen an
interest in the emergent style of UK underground music called dubstep,
and eventually started producing dubstep tracks as recently as 2008. His
growing love for techno, and other minimal forms of dub led him to
combine elements of both styles with stunning results.

French dubstep pioneer and 7even Recordings label head Greg Gouty was
immediately captivated by the impeccable levels of production and fresh
beats streaming from this talented newcomer. Following a succession of
now sold out 12”s for 7even, F’s drops have time and time again grabbed
attention from all the major players -  Appleblim, Pinch, Martyn, Scuba,
Headhunter, Joe Nice, Peverelist, Untold, Ramadanman are all rinsin’ the
dubplates. In little over two years F has established himself as a
pioneering force in new and emerging bass music.

Traversing different worlds, atmospheres and vibes, ‘Energy Distortion’
features much sought after unreleased tracks (0907, Poka, On The Corner,
Confined System and Hologram) and brand new material (See The Light,
Chillin’, Perspectives and Funk Injection). The album has been
beautifully cut and loudly mastered by Shawn Joseph and Jacko Adams at
Optimum Studios in Bristol, the team responsible for 2009 albums by
Martyn and 2562.

The CD and Vinyl Editions each contain exclusive tracks for the fans.
The Vinyl Edition comprises the initial 12” and two beautifully packaged
double 12”s.

Pure collectors items for DJs, heavy weapons for the dancefloor, and a
sure fire hit in 2010.
