White Rabbits are back with a brand new 7", 'Percussion Gun' , their last record exhibiting a post-Walkmen/Arcade Fire vibe. They've now taken to ripping off the percussion from Adam & the Ants and building a kind of heartfelt, grandiose Grizzly Bear style thing over the top of this frisky, tribal beat. The song is constructed from quite skeletal elements which when combined, mix surprisingly well. Clanging piano, an impassioned vocal performance that errs on the side of chest beating & the minimal sketch of a bass line with subtle bursts of early Tindersticks-ey guitar. A really good song indeed. The b-side is 'Foxhunting', a murky, atmospheric & slightly eerie instrumental with a spectral feel. Look forward to the album lots! On TBD records through Mute. Aroma: old suits, mud, furniture polish.
