I'm quite partial to Mi Ami, especially this 'Cut Men' 12" which I reckon is the best thing I've heard them do. Still not heard the album, mind. It's a clattering No Wave punk-funk-dub banger evoking elements of The Contortions, ESG, DNA, The Pop Group and Gang of Four with its jagged shards of guitar and unrelentingly propulsive bass thud moving things along while the bloke who used to sing in Black Eyes screams "I wanna know what love is" and other things like a complete girl. It's a RIGHT tune! I tell you the truth my friends! T'other side is a dubbier effort that sounds a bit like Telepathe or something. It's pretty cool too, if nowhere near as intense. Nice screen printed sleeve job and limited to 750 copies!

What their label says...

The limited edition 12” comes in a silk-screened custom jacket fabricated by Crosshair in Chicago. Half of the jackets will be screened in pink ink and the other half in purple ink.
‘Cut Men’ is the first Mi Ami recording to truly capture the intensity of the band’s heavy bass and wiry, angular guitar sounds.
Formed in August of 2007, the San Francisco trio of Jacob Long (bass), Daniel Martin-McCormick (vocals / guitar) and Damon Palermo (drums) have already issued a handful of limited 12” records on Lover’s Rock (their own imprint), White Denim, and Hoss (not to mention a remix they did for Telepathe on Merok), as well as their first full length ‘Watersports’, and the ‘Echononecho’ single on Quarterstick / Touch & Go in early 2009.
Mi Ami will be touring constantly throughout 2010. Available on limited edition 12” (750 copies).
