Apparently at some point in the last week or two everyone dropped what they were doing and decided that Part Wild Horses Mane On Both Sides are the best band in the UK. I must've missed that meeting but I've got to say that of all the bands in that particular scene I've always been the most keen on their stuff - it appeals to the No-Neck/Jazzfinger lover in me - and this Blew In the Face LP is probably the best thing I've heard them do. It's got a cracking feel to it, evoking the otherworldly Japan of Ugetsu or many a hallucinatory Kurosawa sequence with its fine collection of flutey bits. Lo-fi improv that's somehow both grounded and spiritual.. It's of the finest quality and gets bonus points for the mental No-Neck style liner notes. Limited LP on Chironex.
