Smoke Fairies have the endorsement of Jack White (credited as drummer/multi instrumentalist/producer) on their new single 'Gastown'. They are Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies who have been crafting haunting left field folk together since their school days. 'Gastown' is a laid back folk rock effort featuring some nifty Crosby, Stills and Nash-esque riffage, sweet vocal harmonies and damn fine guitar solos. It's accompanied by 'River Song' which, again, features some beautiful vocal parts as well as embracing an almost paganistic folk melody. Very atmospheric. Out now on Jack White's Third Man imprint.

What their label says...

Playing and singing together since their school days in West Sussex, Smoke Fairies
(Jessica Davies & Katherine Blamire) create ethereal, dark and haunting left-of -
center folk and blues songs wrapped in beautiful harmonies with the occasional
psychedelic flourish. Over the years they’ve played with Bryan Ferry, Richard
Hawley and the Handsome Family. Following an EP and two singles, they now
release their first for Jack White’s Third Man Records. The songs “Gastown” and
“The River Song” were produced by Jack White.
