Dunno what Warp are on about these days but this is their second 7" by an act I've not heard of in a couple of weeks. This one's by Nice Nice, who couldn't fail to improve on the terrifyingly mundane Lonelady effort, but excel beyond that paltry target by means of an oddball indie riff-fest that can turn on a dime: at times somehow wrangling a tune out of the most chaotic and busy of elements (like a baby Lightning Bolt perhaps) and at others going for the pure 'fists pumping the air' approach. 'One Hit' is a catchy little jobber and after fully expecting the worst I'm actually quite impressed with it!

What their label says...
· Nice Nice are Jason Buehler and Mark Shirazi, a duo from Portland making incredibly precise yet completely wild noise jams that have drawn comparisons to a range of contemporaries, from Fuck Buttons to Health to Lightning Bolt to Animal Collective. · ‘One Hit’ is their addictive first UK release, and their first on Warp – a powerful first impression equally likely to appeal to fans of noise / drone music (Zu, Earth, Lightning Bolt) as more rhythmic, structured artists (Fuck Buttons, Pivot), psychedelia or shoegaze fans, and more Brian Enoesque sounds. · The band will play their first UK shows to coincide with this 7”s release, supporting Wavves in London on before playing at Adventures In The Beetroot Field’s night at Cargo, with more gigs to be announced. · Limited to only 200 copies for the UK.
