Frightened Rabbit's latest offering is a sweet sounding affair, it starts with a minimal piano motif and then opens up into more rousing territory. It's disarmingly catchy and even though it does touch upon "anthemic" in its chorus, it still retains a folky quality. It reminds me of Fleet Foxes in a way...but also conjures up images of being at a Proclaimers concert. The productions nice enough though. .The flipside is an acoustic number, just a guitar, strings and a plaintive cry of a voice. 'Swim Until You Can't See Land' is from Fat Cat.....

What their label says...

· Boasting a stunning string arrangement from labelmate Haushka, ‘Swim Until You
Can’t See Land’ is a hugely anthemic song that is perfect as a first indicator of the
new album.
· The single’s very upbeatness is perhaps to be read as a subconscious riposte to the
angst of the preceding ‘The Midnight Organ Fight’ album.
· These tracks, along with the rest of ‘The Winter Of Mixed Drinks’, were recorded
by the band and mixed by Peter Katis (The Twilight Sad, The National, We Were
Promised Jetpacks).
· The band headlined a Scala show in April ’09, a triumphant return to
London that received an ecstatic response.
· Over the last two years Frightened Rabbit have become one of Britain’s most
fiercely taken-to-heart new bands, publically feted by fellow musicians like
Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), Nick Harmer (Death Cab For Cutie) and
Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro).
