Lonelady comes on like an indie rock 80's Madonna. The single is called 'Immaterial'. The sleeve has minimal production values. The flipside has a slightly punkier feel to it. This single has a raw energy to it and she does have a great voice, she could be a thoroughbred. You know, a good mucking out and a few rides around the estate etc.....It's on Warp Records.......

What their label says...

• Another intriguing new addition to the Warp roster, Lonelady
(aka Julie Campbell) is a solo artist, drawing influence from
Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, Grace Jones and, of course,
the architectural landscape of her native Manchester.
• The result is a skintight brace of guitarwork and distinctive
vocals, already drawing comparisons to early PJ Harvey as well
as being infused with classic elements of Manchester post-
punk.
• Her early demo 7”s earned some excellent promo exposure
including pieces on Drowned in Sound, an XFM session for
Jon Kennedy and a slot supporting Wire.
• ‘Immaterial’ is the first of a series of 7”s running up to and
around her debut album, due for release in early 2010. The track
itself was borne out of stripping back to the bare essentials. As
Julie puts it, “my guitar has never looked so deconstructed. Its
strings scalped, its neck bandaged and me and it umbilically
connected – very David Kronenberg”.
• Like the album, it was produced by ‘experience junkie’ Guy
Fixsen, previously known for his work with My Bloody
Valentine, The Breeders and Stereolab.
• This is the first taste of an exciting new talent at the
start of a long and prolific career.
• Available on limited edition 7” (200 copies).
