Phil and Ant seemed excited when this Bruno Spoeri collection on Disposable Music came in, so let's see what all the fuss is about. Reading the press release reveals that Bruno has worked with Can as well as doing loads of soundtracks and crazy corporate type stuff like making motivational music and that. He sounds like an interesting character, one who it's easy to imagine spending all day tangled up in crazy gadgets a la Ron Geesin on that Electrosound LP and his sound isn't far away from that sort of thing at all, mixing primitive electronics and sampling to proper retro sci-fi effect, although there are times when you could easily be forgiven for thinking this is the work of a modern mind, it's pretty staggering how visionary some of these lads and lasses were.. Many of the pieces are brief, exploring one idea to it's natural conclusion then moving on to the next thing in that well established Radiophonic Workshop style. I daresay Extrakugel is a superfine little LP!
