Fuck Buttons aren't the only band with a single out on ATP this week... Oh no... For Apse also have seven inches of single in the form of double A side single. The did an album for the label around a year ago and have also recorded for Equation and Acuarela. '3.1' is a slab of deadly serious indie rock. I wasn't convinced on first play but a quick rewind and I can confirm that I think this is alright. The bassline is of the infectious variety, its melodic and groovy and now I'm going to flip it for 'The Whip'... Again the bassline is quite prominent here, it's a moody one with added synths and comes on limited edition white wax and serves as a taster for their forthcoming album.

Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.

What their label says...

*  Ltd to 1000 copies worldwide on white vinyl in a silver card sleeve.
*  Uncut magazine hit the spot with their 4/5 review for Apse’s debut album ‘Spirit’ (ATPCD29):
"  Lo-fi, tense and occasionally terrifying...an enviable sense of dramatic narrative...spectacular and frequently unsettling climaxes spiked with Sonic Youth guitars, Robert Toher’s ghostly disembodied vocals and a relentless rhythmic drive."
*  ‘3/1’ is dense, innovative, cinematic and packed with more grooves, a greater use of electronics - a range of instruments both modern and classical and a stronger emphasis on vocals and melodies.
*  New album ‘Climb Up’ follows at the end of September.
*  TRACK LISTING: 01.  3.1 (4:09) 02.  The Whip (3:42)
