Golly gosh it would appear that it's my turn to review Wave Machines and I land 'Punk Spirit' on 7". Okay so it is fairly radio friendly type gear and apparently the NME are bigging them up and what not. Hey guess what, I'm not wanting to pour liquid metal into my ears, actually I'm not even mildly irritated by it. I was expecting it was gonna make me wanna hurl. I've heard worse mid-tempo Brtitpop type gear though.. Our Brian is reminded of The Supernaturals. Hey these guys wouldn't lend my mate their bass cab.... Tight-arses. Where's their punk spirit eh? Ltd 7" of 500 copies on Neapolitan.

What their label says...

Off the back of their widely acclaimed album ‘Wave If You’re Really There’, Wave Machines
follow up on their debut with a passive-aggressive masterstroke of a single, ‘Punk Spirit’.

Following up on the success of their first single ‘I Go I Go I Go’, ‘Punk Spirit’ has similarly received strong radio support and been given positive reviews from key tastemaker magazines.

Wave Machines released two 7” singles in ’08 on the hip Chess Club label and a further two 7” on
Neapolitan in ‘09 – both of which sold out – and the band have performed sessions on Radio 1’s Rob Da
Bank and Huw Stephens’, won Fresh Meat on Zane Lowe. Further sessions on John Kennedy and Jon
Hillcock on XFM and Marc Riley, Chris Hawkins and Nemone on 6Music.

The band have toured the country extensively, playing at shows and festivals like Latitude, BBC Proms,
Lounge On The Farm, Concrete And Glass, Stag And Dagger, SXSW, Chess Club tour and single launch
at Elgar Rooms in the Royal Albert Hall, their own ‘Wave If You’re Really There’ night in Liverpool, Dotto-
Dot Festival, Glastonbury and the Lovebox Weekender. Coming up are Green Man and Leeds
Festivals as well as Bestival, plus a run of UK dates.

“Wave Machines are up there with the finest of 2009” – NME.

Limited run of 7’’ vinyl (500 copies).
