Who the shitting fuck are The Bookhouse Boys? A 10" on red vinyl called 'Shoot You Down' is mine for the taking and I'm err, not sure how to. Take them I mean. They've blatantly been studying at the alter of Cave, Tindersticks et al & possess a female singer like Carla Torgenson of the Walkabouts for that whole darkness 'n' light vocal juxtaposition. Do they have anything remotely new to bring to the table of the already oversubscribed society of neo-gothic/baroque artists parading around the globe? Nope. Does the sleeve have a skull featured in the artwork? Yep. Does this quote from the press release make me chortle? - "The Bookhouse Boys smash through their influences with wild abandon.". Yep. Am I bothering any further with this review? Nope.
