I love meat. We've had meat themed records before but not since the 'Lady In Red is Dancing With Meat' by Chris De Burger (courtesey of V/Vm) has one taken us by storm as much as the new King Salami & The Cumberland Three 7" 'Do The Wurst'. This 7" of sinewy garage rock is one of the finest cut(lets) we've had in ages. 'Do The Wurst' is a perfect slice dirty scuzzy sausage fuelled rock 'n roll punk which will get you running rabidly to your butchers in no time. I can't remember the last time I heard that much energy in one record.... must be all of that protein. The guitar riffs are ludicrously infectious, the vocals are the insane rantings of a man haunted by the ghost of Screaming Jay Hawkins and the drums and bass chugg along relentlessly like a train with no brakes. The flipside 'Do the Funky Walk' is a much funkier tune but it's heart is still in scuzzy rock 'n' rock. This is a smoking hot single which will punch you in the chops and leave you flat on your rump wondering what the fuck just happened to your ears. It's also pressed in mono so it really sounds authentically old.... Fantastic stuff on Dirty Water!! For fans of Mark Sultan, King Khan, Screaming Jay Hawkins etc. ! Alas, there's no chopping board with this one but I'll see if I get time to pop to the butchers to get some bratwursts to wang in with your orders! Phil x

What their label says...

London's newest R&B-punk sensation – okay, maybe our only R&B-punk outfit – are making fun times where ever they go. With a repertoire encompassing many of the greats of the ’50s and ’60s you won't be able to help but move your feet. The King howls like Screaming Jay Hawkins with Bo Diddley chasing his coat-tail and with Andre Williams trying to offer up some of his bacon fat. This man never stops shakin' and twistin' and groovin' while the Cumberland 3 (former members of the Ulcers, Chinese Lungs and Parkinsons) play their own branded mix of vintage rockabilly desperate rock'n'roll and a bit of soul with fire, energy, gusto and fun! Previous singles have sold like the proverbial hot cakes and this one on Dirty Water is sure to do the same. This is an old fashioned singles band, one that puts out one seven inch after another, all designed, and guaranteed, to get you dancing like a madman. Whether live on stage or on record this is one of the most exciting bands in rock’n’roll – they are guys who know what it takes to make us move. Equal parts rock and soul, with a dash of funk and a healthy dose of rhythm and blues. Whether you’re at a club show or in your living room you won’t be able to help yourself from shaking and shimmying.
