"Swinging beats tinged with rockabilly riffs & moody Orbison-esque vocals" -I.D. “...harnessing the menacing narrative prowess of Nick Cave and the angular guitars and melancholic ghostliness of early Echo & The Bunnymen" -Drowned in Sound. Whitechapel three-piece The Bridport Dagger release their new single ‘Slipped Disco’ through Death Records on 13th July. Available as a limited seven inch, the single features ‘Slipped Disco’ on the A side with ‘Rock and Roll’ and ‘Paperback’ on the flipside. Christened after an old gallows term, The Bridport Dagger met at the back of an ale house on Gypsy Hill during a drinking tournament. Consisting of two art school boys and a scientist, the trio's sound is bassless & drum heavy. The Bridport Dagger cite Josef K, Roy Orbison, The Cramps and Wire as influences and deal in short, echo-y blasts of noise. Their twangy riffs and dense reverb evoke nightmarish 1950's rock & roll as re-imagined by David Lynch. As Stereosanctity put it; “Cinematic' in music crit terminology is usually taken to mean vast, expansive landscapes; but this stuff is 'cinematic' like a 30 second jump cut scene where some guy gets stabbed & thrown off a train".
