I've always struggled with Antony & The Johnsons. Undoubtedly the music is excellent and he's clearly a talented chap but I still struggle with his warbly voice. The urge to slap his face and shout 'get a grip' is strong but I will resist! Also he's not here and if he was I'd be the perfect gent as none of this is really real. 'Aeon' is his new single and the flip side of this grey vinyl wonder is a cover of Beyonce's 'Crazy In love' which I have to say (as a fan of the original) I'm not that keen on. It's all very stringy and emotive but I like the thunderous kick ass drums of the original and the brashy pop. Had I not liked the original as much I may well have liked it more. The A side Aeon is a typical gutsy and moving almost slightly bluesy performance from Antony and I much prefer it to the cover on the flip, though his voice is grating on me. Am still not sure about this fella....
