Dutch techno-inflected dubstep don Martyn started out life as a drum 'n' bass man and in the wake of his well-deserved recent success Play Musik have seen fit to do a limited repress of his debut 12" from 2005. Despite the big BPM change the easily recognizable hallmarks of his sound are totally present and correct, particularly in the synth patches and shimmeringly impeccable production. 'Nxt 2 U' reminds Brian of Jonny L with its insistent vocal line and dancefloor-friendly hypergroove while the almost electro 'n' bass 'Deepwood' sounds a bit like like Drexciya being played at the wrong speed. Plenty of scope for the DJs amongst you to fuck about with the pitch on these two tunes but they sound mighty fine just blasted out the way god intended.

What their label says...
Very limited repress of Martyn’s first ever 12” from 2005, when he was emerging as a drum & bass producer with a distinct sound. Dancefloor smash ‘Nxt 2 U’ made a big impression back then, backed with the rolling sounds of ‘Deepwood’.
