Patrick Wolf is a bit of a comedy figure these days. He's like the mis understood teenager and one day everyone's gonna get it or he's gonna be mortally embarrassed by some of his fashion choices and do himself in. His hair on the new single is quite astounding. It's somewhere in between the French aristocracy ala the Regency period and a windswept goth with a good 60% shares in Insette. I can only describe his outfit as Spiderman after he's been dragged through a massive very long holly bush. Though I do quite like the orange scaly looking make up on his forehead. Yes it takes allsorts... and the oddballs make things more interesting and whatever you say about him he certainly makes things more interesting. I always look forward to a new Patrick Wolf sleeve. It's like an event here you know... 'Hard Times' is his usual mix of oddball eccentric pop with synths, drum machine and swirly orchestral wooshes all backed up by his dramatic vocals and it's all very artistic and meaningful I'm sure. It's not as bad as I thought it was gonna be.... Limited 7" only release only available from a handful of stores and well worth checking out if not just for the remarkable hairstyle on the cover.
