Palm Springs are back with a 7" on their Random Acts of Vinyl label. 'Free Atlas' is a well put together pop song, well produced with a slightly hazy, dreamy edge to it. It has a melancholy feel, with some elements recalling Crane Builders, Aztec Camera, and Tindersticks in the guitar. If you're a fan then I'm sure you'll enjoy listening To 'Free Atlas/ Shared History'.

What their label says...

This is the third single from Brighton/London based Palm Springs forthcoming second album, and like its predecessors is a limited edition vinyl only release of a brace of timeless songs through the band's own Random Acts Of Vinyl label.

'˜Free Atlas' is Palm Springs take on classic timeless pop with their own twist. Feedback bleeds into wall of sound drums, electronica into cello, and with guest vocals from Cottonmouth Rocks Sally Megee, is the bands most immediate single to date. Whilst its bedfellow, ˜Shared History' entwines discordant piano and slide guitar to melancholic effect in a torch song for the past.

'˜Free Atlas' precedes the release of Palm Springs second album, ˜The Hope That Kills You' in the autumn, and their appearance at the Haldern Pop Festival in Germany alongside the likes of Loney Dear, Gravenhurst, Bon Iver and Grizzly Bear, where their cult and critical underground success continues to grow.
