So Warp Records have signed Bibio after what seems like a very short period since the 'Vignetting The Compost.'. 'Ambivalence Avenue' is a catchy wee number with a fairly authentic 70's sound. It's like an indie/ pop/ folkie tune with super playful melodies and chorus. It reminds me of some kids TV shows that were around when I was crapping my pants and climbing on the washing machine to get to the biscuit jar. This has been released with perfect timing for the current wave of hot weather we're enjoying... I believe it is called summer. The flipside 'Fire Ant' may be some subliminal message from Stephen Wilkinson to the gaffer to give me the boot. Please no! I have mouths to feed. I think I've always been kind to Bibio records in the past... Any way this track is quite different with it's hip hop/ disco sample feel which reminds Brett of old Prefuse 73 material.

What their label says...

-    Bibio (aka Stephen Wilkinson) is a homegrown purveyor of bright, colourful Summer music - from vintage disco beats to swirling expansive pieces to plaintive guitar songs.

-    He’s been described as "the antidote to the modern laptopia of pristine electronic music" by Marcus Eoin of labelmates Boards of Canada
-    This deluxe ‘Ambivalence Avenue’ 7” is his first release on Warp, contains the first sampler of his forthcoming album of the same name, and is strictly limited to 500 copies in the UK.

-    This release will be physical only – a special, one-off collector’s item and will contain an artworked insert as well as being embossed

-    His album, which follows this release a few weeks later, is a patchwork of Summery beats, saturated vintage indie (think Wicker Man, Belle and Sebastian, 70s children’s TV themes) – an inclusive piece of work that has received a great early reaction
