There's a couple of singles in this week on the Great Pop Supplement. Tasty packaging as ever! The David A. Jaycock 7" comes in a foldy over envelope style sleeve with little leaves stencil pressed out of the sleeve which are loose in the sealed package. It's really quite lovely and it's as close to Christmas as you'd get as far as packaging goes without there being tinsel and pissed family members all over the shop. I really liked this guys CD he did on Early Winter a while back. Thought it was smashing folk ridden singer songwriter gear and this is more of the same. The droney vocals over some nice picked guitar on 'A New Love Song' make a really special A side. The flipside is another formidable instrumental which will have you crying like a baby that's been dropped (hey it happens...). There's some dashes of Six Organs in the that tune.... I like it as well. A cracking 7"!

What their label says...

2 beautifully haunting, acoustic pieces from mancunian singer songwriter david a jaycock, following cdr outings on red deer club and early winter recordings and member of 'big eyes family players'. "a new love song" on side a, with it's almost droning vocal line and fahey-esque picking features a formidable, spine tingling banjo line- it's a jaw dropper of a piece. the same can be said of the flip "that warm feeling in my belly" where this time it's a violin line that gets those pimples down yr spine going. awesome single fabulously packaged in sealed, hand stamped envelope packs that ar2 beautifully haunting, acoustic pieces from mancunian singer songwriter david a jaycock, following cdr outings on red deer club and early winter recordings and as a member of big eyes family players.
