What their label says...
Please note: this release is a 10" vinyl record, cut at 78rpm. Please be aware of this fact before purchasing the single! Thanks.
‘Foni Tu Argile’ is the first single to be taken from A Hawk And A Hacksaw’s fourth album, Délivrance - in fact it’s their first ever physical single. As well as the obligatory digital download, the single is also available in a strictly limited edition of 500 hand-numbered 10” singles, cut at 78rpm, with packaging that replicates the shellac records of old. A treat for collectors!
Reflecting A Hawk And A Hacksaw’s fascination with the music of Eastern Europe, ‘Foni Tu Argile’ is a traditional Greek Rembetika song, usually played on bouzouki with vocals. With the help of collaborator Chris Hladowski (Scatter, Nalle), who introduced the song to A Hawk And A Hacksaw’s Jeremy Barnes and Heather Trost, it is transformed into a righteous instrumental stomp with an incredibly seductive, heavily percussive melody that is rich with colour and laden with spice and incense.
Tracklisting:
1. A Hawk And A Hacksaw - Foni Tu Argile 2. A Hawk And A Hacksaw - The Man Who Sold His Beard (Part II) 3. A Hawk And A Hacksaw - Lassú
