Well we weren't allowed to be part of that record store day which was a bit gutting cos we see ourselves as a record shop. The day came and went though but we managed to get some of the exclusive releases which came out on the day. One of which was the Franz Ferdinand dub LP called Blood. This was the limited CD that came free with the initial copies of the not so bad last album. It comes in a nice shiny sleeve though and having some sort of weird affinity to cats means that I like shiny things. Anyway the album is less dubby and more dancey from what I've heard. Actually it varies from more dancey sounding tracks to a handful of more genuinely dubby sounding tracks. Not really what you'd expect from Franz but all their songs are there and if you fancy something a bit different and you're a fan of their work then you may want to pick this up! Limited to 1000 copies only so I can't imagine it hanging about for too long.

Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.

What their label says...

‘Blood’ is the dub companion album to ‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’. The original album has been twisted inside out by album producer Dan Carey. Carey’s CV includes an ‘apprenticeship’ with legendary south London dub specialist The Mad Professor, owner of Ariwa Sounds, one of the UK’s premier reggae labels.
Whilst the record is primarily a dub album it covers more bases including disco, space rock and house.
‘Blood’ was originally featured as part of the limited edition box set and double disc versions of ‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’, though this new version will include the additional song, ‘Be Afraid’, a version of ‘Dream Again’.
The band are currently touring the US but will be back in the UK to play festivals including a headlining slot at Glastonbury. A full UK tour has been announced for October.
The LP is a limited edition of 1000 copies, housed in a deluxe mirrorboard sleeve.
