Oh my, what have we here? It's only a Heavy Winged 'Waking, Shaking' LP in a limited edition of 500 copies on 180g transparent grey vinyl. They're well on form on this one, taking things uber heavy and dark on A side 'Tidal Blackness'. The label on the cover says "Nigh on 45 minutes of melodic fug, scorching noise, monolithic drift and caveman Krautrock" which sums it up pretty tidily and saves me digging into the recesses of the intellectual void that is my brain in search of suitable adjectives. They've found a good home at Aurora Borealis with this fine LP of primal rock dirge.

What their label says...
* Aurora Borealis is proud to present Brooklyn trio HEAVY WINGED on limited coloured vinyl with the Shaking, Waking LP.
* The Shaking, Waking LP consists of two lengthy tracks: ’Tidal Blackness’ is a 23 minute cloud of improvised guitar and bass drone, underpinned with sparse percussive elements and dappled with the rays of ethereal melodies. This track, recorded live in Oakland in 2008, represents the more gentle side of Heavy Winged in some ways and is largely soothing.
* The second side harbours ’Morning Flesh’, 18 minutes that veer towards the caveman Krautrock of the recent Alive in my mouth LP, drums pounding, Neanderthal guitar chugging, though with a melodic haze drifting across the musical landscape like a lysergic mistral, leading the listener ever further into the shifting sands of the forbidden zone.
* Collaboration with Windy & Carl in the works. Previous releases on Three Lobed and Archive * Tracklisting: Side A: 01. Tidal Blackness Side B: 02. Morning Flesh
