A dubstep picture disc seems like a weird thing, I thought it was all about the hard bangin' speaker shakin' crispiness so why put something out on a format that's hardly known for its audio fidelity? To be fair though, Planet Mu have obviously done the best job they possibly can on this Distance 12" 'cos it sounds tasty enough. The A-side has 'Night Vision' from My Demons as remixed by Skream and I reckon it does a decent amount to improve on the original's skulky hoodie moods but it gets swept away convincingly by the ace Goth Trad mix of 'Traffic' on the other side which features those liquid sound effects so beloved of Rustie and his chums but far slurpier than anything they've put their hands to, it's like being sucked down the plughole to some sort of futurestep Atlantis where all the mermen are shooting each other's tits off with lasers. Cool stuff and it's inspired Ant and I to try and check out some more Goth Trad.
