Bombay Bicycle Club have gone all big and signed to a big fat label. The first fruits of this massive cash injection are the 'Always Like This' single which isn't as bad as thought it was gonna be. I did see the video the other week which I thought was utter gash. It must have cost about 10p to make. Somewhere in between Bloc Party, Foals and Vampire Weekend (ie all bases covered). It's got that jaunty afro bassline which bounces along over some jerky guitars and some wierd vocals which remind me of the guy from My Morning jacket at times. Took me ages to think of that. I think it must be the reverb effect on his voice. So I don't mind this too much for the fluff that it is. The 12" features DFA and James Rutledge (Pedro to you and me) mixes though I've not heard 'em as we've only got the bloody 7" as I type....

Bombay Bicycle Club release the first single from their astonishing debut album and their first release on Island Records, Always Like This, on April 13th.

Recorded by long-term producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys), Always Like This is the sound of one of the most talked about new bands in the country, fast becoming one of the best.
