Golden Silvers.. I can't think of much to say about them that I haven't said already, it's like a dodgy ABC or something. Business Lady peered over her thick-rimmed designer specs at me while suggesting that it also sounds just like Reverand and the Makers so that's something else. I guess the selling point on this 'True Romance' 12" is that it's got a Micachu mix on the other side which is far more tolerable despite the fact that it's really hard to pin down exactly why.. All the irritating stuff is present and correct but some crazy magic is weaved and suddenly you've got a disco-funk effort that'd stand out as quite a decent tune if you were down the indie disco in an ill-fitting t-shirt pretending you're fifteen again. A victory of sorts.

What their label says...

Having signed to XL Recordings in 2008, London-based trio Golden Silvers will release their brilliant new single ‘True Romance (True No.9 Blues)’ on 20th April.

‘True Romance (True No.9 Blues’) is taken from Golden Silvers’ forthcoming debut album ‘True Romance’ and is set to build on the critical success of last year’s two rapturously-received independent singles ‘Arrows Of Eros’ and ‘Magic Touch / Another Universe’.

Produced by the latest producer wunderkind Lexxx (Crystal Castle, Esser), ‘True Romance (True No.9 Blues)’ is another fantastic piece of stylish, groove-laden pop from this fantastically modern, band who comprise Gwilym Gold (keyboards, vocals). Ben Moorhouse (bass) and Alexis Nunez (drums).

12” limited edition vinyl features remixes from Micachu And The Shapes and Golden Silvers themselves (‘True Romantic Re-Fix)

The single will also be accompanied by a brilliant video directed by Warp Films’ Daniel Brereton and Colin Henderson.

Meanwhile, following recent tours with the likes of Mystery Jets, The Wombats and Crystal Castles, Golden Silvers continue to promote their ever-popular Bronze Club (third Friday of the month at Hoxton’s Macbeth) where Golden Silvers call on their fellow purveyors of weird, wonderful yet immediate music to come on play, like The Invisible and Micachu. A full UK headline tour will also be announced shortly.
