That Cameron Deas chappie returns with another vinyl outing on our favorite Sheffield outer reaches label Blackest Rainbow. This baby is a split with Spoono AKA Jack Allett who I think is from Camberwell in London. Cam's side is more of that scintillating James Blackshaw-esque quickfire picking that should also appeal heavily to fans of Sir Richard Bishop & John Fahey. His style isn't quite as pin sharp & clean as Blackshaw's, a little rawer & expressive but just as breathtaking. The first of two tracks 'Frozen Lakes & Icy Leaves' is a blinding epic of dramatic highs & lows. The second untitled piece is a brief track comprised of pesky blurting electronics & interference, like an amp and a fusebox having a hissy fit in an empty studio. Spoono's side resides in or around the chapel of our friend Jack Rose, his 3 metronomic jangling compositions sending huge shivers of delight up our spines, a truly gifted guitarist with fingers to worship (he sounds like he may have about 26 of them judging by these wild pieces!!) This "tour" split LP features a unique old postcard from around these hallowed isles, giving each record it's own identity & purpose. I like the Cam Deas side a great deal but i'm bowled over by Spoono, his tracks are to die for! Wonderful grooves....

What their label says...

Limited Edition tour LP for their upcoming jaunt across Europe... One side for each of these amazing UK guitarists... Cam has two tracks, one beautiful long guitar piece followed by an insane electronics tracks, that sounds almost like Autechre's more weird static work... Spoono is Jack Allett who is also half of Towering breaker. His side consists of three incredible tracks that will no doubt prick up the ears of fans of Jack Rose.  Each copy comes with an individual vintage postcard pasted on the cover (ranging from classy 1950s landscapes to pure 1980s chessy seaside town styles), plus insert with track info. Limited to 350. SOLD OUT AT SOURCE!
