I used to like Mclusky even if no-one else I know did. Sometimes a man needs to stand alone. To feel the wind of leprosy, the stroke of a tramp, to become Joseph Merrick. That was my fate. The Future of the Left I'm less keen on and 'The Hope That House Built' doesn't do a huge amount to change that despite its best attempts to lure me with its insistent two note riff and vocal back-and-forths.. But you do have to respect them for dutifully ploughing their own angular rock furrow. 7" only on 4AD

What their label says...

Having been holed up in their Cardiff rehearsal space since December preparing for the release of their second album (the follow up to 2007s critically-acclaimed ‘Curses’), Future Of The Left are set to release ‘The Hope That House Built’ as the first taster for the album.
First debuted live back in August, ‘The Hope That House Built’ is an emphatic and thunderous return for the band with a stomping Queens Of The Stone style riff and the hypnotic refrain “Come join, come join our hopeless cause / Come join, come join our lost cause!” Melodic yet brimming with riotous intent, it’s sure to be one of the defining rock tracks of ’09.
The single will come backed with the exclusive track ‘I Have Four Names’
