...according to our Brett on 15 April 2009.
Limited edition 7” vinyl. Kids Love Lies are a fast frenetic female fronted band, described as "Frenetic, dramatic girl pop with more than a hint of Sleater Kinney but with a refreshingly English twist! Very Exhilerating!" Cherryade Records Since playing their first gig in January 2008 KLL have received airplay from Tom Robinson on BBC6 music, Huw Stevens & Nick Grimshaw on Radio One and their debut single was picked as BBC Kent Introducing's single of the week. KLL's song 'Under the Bed' is currently featured on the new Puregroove records website as part of their free download 100, and was also chosen as track of the day on The Times online website. Kids Love Lies have had a great year, playing with bands such as Fight like Apes, Scanners, and Theoretical Girl, and also securing a place at the Shoreditch Shuffle and Offset festival and look forward to 2009 with festival appearances and a UK and German tour to look forward to! What reviewers have said: "Vocalist Ellen Murphy dramatically sings with a mix of riot grrrl attitude and a laid-back confidence that pulls the whole thing together. The result is that the explosion of energy on display is tight, impressive and professional" The Times Online / "Fuzzed up twin guitar riffing and Ellen's totally in-your-face vocal ranting but ultimately hooky and fun tunes could be the punked up relation to Operator Please's garage-pop as much as the current crop of angular post-punk" Artrocker / "Three tracks of Kids Love Lies is not nearly enough! When a band leaves you wanting more, that's when they know they're doing something right. This is beyond doubt the best thing I have heard all day"The Mag single review / "A shining example of the new voice of post-punk, Kids Love Lies take in influences ranging from the Slits to the Pixies, with hook-heavy female vocals juxtaposed against sharp riffs to create a genuine hybridisation of legendary sounds."
