Now truth be told, I haven't got the most sophisticated music taste sometimes and the last Grizzly Bear album, 'Yellow House' being as lauded as it was, did little for me. I prefer more feral & demented pleasures much of the time, or straight chill out so I sit there floppy eyed like Dylan the Rabbit or grinning like a stoned Cheshire cat. On newie 'Veckatimest' they're a-shitting in my ears with a slightly baroque, harmony drenched sound that often bears resemblance to the Beach Boys school of honey'd 'n hazy classical pop. I think there's occasionally also parallels with Animal Collective but with the arrangements gentler & much less day-glo tribal techno. There's an undoubted passion & elegance within these songs and many rich, melodic layers and incredibly pleasant production frills ocuring througout this batch of downtempo grand-pop nuggets. I can hear bits of The Kinks, Bolan, late Beatles, Pink Floyd & early Bowie strongly all over this record, it's quite spaced & progressive but like I say, there's no doubting the intrepid musicianship throughout. Fink is, I wus bekoming bored ov my tits so I fell asleap in the korner. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZz. CD & LP innit.

What their label says...

“An album so good it could potentially end all human conflict” - Dazed & Confused.

Following a sensational year in 2008, which saw the band support Radiohead and Paul
Simon in the US (becoming Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood’s “favourite band in the
world”), and performing on Letterman, Grizzly Bear return with a breathtaking new
album, blending lush orchestral flourishes and a strong sense of melodic pop hooks with
captivating and often immediate indie folk.

Grizzly Bear and ‘Veckatimest’ have already been the subject of massive critical acclaim:
“Spectral, folksy chamber pop” – NME; “The best record of the 00s” - Robin Pecknold,
Fleet Foxes; “Shaping up as a shoo-in for the best of the year lists” – Q; “A wonderful
album that recalls the charms of, amongst others, Jeff Buckley” – Uncut; “While maintaining
the lovely dreaminess and vocal harmonies of their previous work, these new songs contain a
more immediate pop sensibility” – Clash; “One of 2009’s most hotly anticipated album
releases from the ultimate Brooklyn buzz-band” – Observer; “The next psychedelic indie
hipsters due a breakthrough are probably New York's Grizzly Bear” - Evening Standard.
