Meanwhile Cane drop a double pack on Creative Space that sounds pretty cool. Brian and I were just commenting on what a whopper that 12" they did for Arcola was. The Colony stuff is alright too but they set a high benchmark with the 'Teknotest' one. Oh by the way Cane are the Funcken brothers (Funckarma/ Shadow Huntaz etc.) So.. 'Non Fiction' kicks off with some sci-fi neo electro with a heady futurist vibe and down pitched vocals. Then you get a mid tempo 4/4 techno cut with dirty synths and a subtle elastic acid bassline. 'T6' is aimed straight at the floor with its intense groove and sharp metallic percussion. 'Ynau' is a slice of seriously fine dutch acid with its morphing 303 line and crunchy claps and sharp hats. 'Grasey' is a lot heavier than anything else on here with its big kick that's got plenty of reverb. All in all a decent set of tracks/ dj tools that'll work the right dancefloor into frenzy. The acid is kept to a more functional level which I like as opposed to a veritable squelch-athon. I'm not going to be writing home about it "Dear mum you really ought to get the new Cane dope shit on your 1210's" but it's certainly well worth a spin.

What their label says...
The Funcken brothers Don and Roel, aka Funckarma, return to Creative Space under their experimental techno guise Cane, a medium for their more dance-oriented tracks, with 4x4 beats that constantly morph into alternating rhythmic forms, deep acid lines and electroid experiments. A collection of eight tracks across two pieces of vinyl, covering the various faces of their project, from deep techno excursions to high voltage electro beats, acid explosions and rhythmic juxtapositions, ‘Non Fiction’ is an EP of dancefloor devastating tech-tronica.
