Predator Vision's such an amazing name for a band. It's enough in itself really but I should mention the music I suppose. I kind of hoped they'd be well metal but their side of this split LP on Not Not Fun is a blissful improvised guitar psych workout not a million miles from a lot of the other stuff on the label recently, Magic Lantern and all that. It's good stuff but nothing you couldn't hear being jammed out at a Pink Fairies show in the sixties.. To be honest I think we're all starting to get jam fatigue in here, there's a lot of it about at the moment. Personally I'm into T***o Finest pomegranate conserve, that's the real deal. Apparently this is their first vinyl release so the format obsessives can join in the fun now. "If it's wax, we can play it." The other side features Sun Araw who I've been meaning to check out properly for a little while after seeing all the McLovin the Beach Head LP's had from the cats. Now I'm actually listening to it I can't think of anything to say but it's noisy, hallucinatory and fairly formless with some totally ace sounds and textures. The majority sounds like a reggae pressing plant being sucked into a vortex but towards the end a wonky, watery rhythm kicks in to fine effect, bringing to mind an Acid Mothers Temple bootleg with dubious audio quality. Great stuff for stoned, adventurous ears!

What their label says...

And a brand new side from Sun Araw, limited to 440 only....matt from Ducktails' psycho-psych band Predator Vision's vinyl debut after a pair of scorching tapes. their side here is bit more fogged out and pensive, rolling in its own heavy hypnosis, improvised rock without the baggage. Sun Araw returns after his triumphant "Beach Head" LP with "Hey Mandala!", a total masterpiece of funkadelic rhythm guitar, tripped out organ, and pulsing percussion. way more high-energy and psychotropic than his recent blissed ballads. 2009 will belong to Sun Araw....
