I can recall when the very first Pole album was released and I was well into it. So much so that I ventured to see him play in Sheffield all on my own without enough money to buy a pint so I chain smoked about 15 jail thickness roll ups... Fuck me have you seen the new government health warnings on tobacco products these days. The other day I got one that had a pic of someone with seriously fucked up teeth and then I also got one of the bloke with a massive neck tumor. They're totally grim. I'm collecting them. I 've got two of the Tumor one if anyone wants to trade.....Its always interesting to get new material from the man Stefan Bekte. That 'Round Black Ghosts' compilation on Scape that he compiled was great. It's clear that a lot of the UK artists on there have been inspired his current sound. 'Alles Gut' has a rubbery squelch and a kind of off beat groove with cool little bleeps and sneaky percussive elements twisting around it. It defo has that Berlin/ Bristol sound happening. The flipside is 'Alles Klar' which I immediately recognize from the aforementioned comp. It's a strange tune that almost makes me feel claustrophobic. There's a synth sound that's kind of oriental sounding. I can imagine this making me dead paranoid if I smoked too much hocus pocus. Quality 12" on Scape.
