What their label says...

Hot City’s productions have been getting some serious underground hype recently, with a scattering of tracks reaching the hands of a selection of influential DJs, from current names such as Drop The Lime (who vocaled the track on his most recent mix for FACT magazine), Hannah Holland, Edu K and Hudson Mohwake, to Chicago legends Jammin’ Gerald, Marcus Mixx and Detroit’s DJ Omega have all been hammering it. Rinsing out dancefloors worldwide for the last couple of months, ‘Yeah!’ is a stripped-down France-via--Chicago house bubbler bursting with vocals, stabs, pianos, breakdowns, and mad style for miles… whatever “it” is, ‘Yeah!’ has it. On the flip, ‘Head Work’ is a stuttering-then-chugging minimal garage monster that rips through vocals and edits in a fashion not seen or heard since the mid-‘90s. Standing equal to the originals are the remixes. San Francisco’s Eats Tapes from Kid 606’s Tigerbeat label are first on the buttons, and the duo have come up trumps with a minimal analogue synth noise click fest refix of ‘Head Work’. Following that – a tall order, but they pull it off – are TVO, responsible for Glasgow’s legendary Numbers club and Stuff label, who drop a firing ‘90s hardcore mix of ‘Yeah!’ aimed square at the floor, driven by super-energised breakbeats and Outlander-esque rolling sub-bass tones.
