to rococo rot have a limited edition heavy vinyl 7" out on Domino with a sleeve that features loads of human hair, reminding me of when my missus cleans her hairbrush out and there's a ball of hair like a little mutant hamster to deal with. 'Horses. Horses. Horses' has a mid tempo 4/4 kick with a nice clean, pure drum machine, sterile sound however the track builds into a wonderfully soulful shimmering piece with piano refrain, lovely chiming electronic sounds and a fabulous string that brings the whole thing together. What I particularly like are all the little details in the production with little sounds briefly cropping up in separate channels. There's a house/ disco vibe running through it albeit a captivatingly experimental one. The flipside isn't as instantly appealing with it's jazzy percussion and itchy groove but again the production is pristine and there's lots of fascinating little rhythms and melodies occurring. A deeply rich sound and I'd say a high quality single.
