'By the River' is By the Band Called Vase and it's released By Hand Idiom Recordings. It's a 7" and it's all about melancholy plinky plonk piano, sad strings, mournful guitar, depressed drums and songs with words that I can't understand. It's definitely got a bit of a slowcore thing going, like a more lo-fi Low. They're all short jobs (four songs on a 7" playing at 45rpm) so they do have a bit of a sketchy quality to them that I quite like, similar to that last Max Richter album in feel if not musically. It's very nice, if not quite what I want right now so I'd best move on..

Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.

This humble, 4-song EP contains beautiful, simple melodies, played on acoustic guitar and lonely piano.
