I used to really love Clinic when they were dead raw and that, 'IPC Subeditors Dictate Our Youth' and all that. That that that and stuff. It's been a long time since I've heard them so it's with piqued interest that I stick this 'Tomorrow' 10" on. Both the title track and 'Hijack' are far more laid back than the Clinic I'm used to but they're far better than I expected, the midtempo surfy indie that this suggests they've settled into definitely suits them very well, with that distinctive Scousevox pushed right up to the front. Comparisons are a bit pointless in this case since their sound is so immediately recognizable but I'll throw in The Shadows just to tick a box. The other side's got a DFA remix of 'Tomorrow' that seems to meld the original to 'Superstition' by Stevie Wonder, an unlikely pairing but it works really well. It's dead good fun!
