Melodie Du Kronk and their self-titled LP are a bit of an odd one. I came upstairs when it was first on to be reminded of Cluster so I shouted out loud 'I am a man who is happy to review this!' Unfortunately when I put it on later it unfortunately sounded a bit unfortunate. A bit numpty. Possibly a bit cack maybe? Then you get some good bits that make you wonder if you judged it too harshly. Then it changes again. Basically this record will make you wrong, no matter what you think of it, which really is an achievement when you think about it. If you like Stereolabby loungeyness, Holy Fuck, Kling Klang or krautrock rhythms and don't mind if they're all put through a bit of an elevator cheesemonger filter then this may well be for you. Then again, I'm genuinely confused by it, despite liking all those things.. It might be good, it might be bad, it might be goad. Try it yourself! Limited to 200 numbered copies on The Great Pop Supplement!

What their label says...

It’s not often that the GPS delves into the full length market, but here’s a stormer. 11 totally whacked out, fried nuggets of space-age electronic psychedelia from Scouse moog maniacs Melodie Du Kronk.

Opening with the glorious “Morgiana”, which rolls out like some lost 1971 hallucinatory goth horror disco track, the album then runs over 10 more pulsing gems that play out like the soundtrack to some aborted, early ’70s iron bloc horror flick.
Bubbling moogs and constantly evolving, meandering motorik rhythms recall the groove of Cluster and Harmonia mangled with prime “Neu! era” Stereolab and Add N to X at their zonked out best, with a twist of Holy Fuck to boot….
200 numbered copies on vinyl only in suitably lurid ‘neon skullz‘ designed, linen card sleeves. strict "play loud" policy on this one!
