Jingle jangle jewelry jewelry. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart are well Scotch-sounding C86 shoepop indiegaze but they do as good a job of it as anyone I've heard recently (and we hear quite a lot of stuff like this).. Having said that, all they've really done is make me want to go and listen to Dinosaur Jr. or something.. Some sort of victory though, innit? 'Everything With You' is a 7" record and it's out on Fortuna Pop!

What their label says...

The latest single release by New York four-piece The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart is a glorious, joyous blast of breathless noise-pop, built on spangly, early-Smiths guitars and the gently canoodling boy/girl vocals of Kip and Peggy. Though the band may hail from the US of A, their sound is distinctly UK-friendly, neatly joining the dots between C86, shoegaze and latter day indie torch-holders Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura. Like all of the above, The Pains are a band to utterly cherish. Since debuting in early 2007, The Pains have released a handful of EPs and compilation tracks on labels including Slumberland, Atomic Beat and Cloudberry, generating a major buzz Stateside. Their last single, Come Saturday, was a blogosphere smash, and a dance-floor fave in London clubs such as Twee as Fuck and How Does It Feel To Be Loved. Everything With You is released in anticipation of the band’s debut album, due for release in January 2009. We’re expecting great things from this one: there is simply no such thing as a rote moment or lazily-delivered tune in The Pains’ repertoire.
