The Lucky Dragons have a new album out. We actually had an import of
this a few weeks ago (which we still have a handful of in stock) but we
didn't get chance to review it. So here's a UK version of 'Dream Island
Laughing Language' on the smart Upset The Rhythm label. Those with
memories better than those of fish will remember we did give Lucky
Dragons single of the week about 2 years ago (ish). They're a tapped
band.... Impossible music to describe... Weird percussive nonsense that
is emminenetly appealing. At times it sounds like a load of folks
around a campfire with some stuff that they're clattering together
seemingly randomly. Though random it ain't... there's some complex
rhythms and electronic textures going on in there. Stick with this
though as there's ample richness to be had throughout. Maybe fans of
the Sublime Frequencies stuff will like this. That's what I think
anyway!

What their label says...
* Now also on limited vinyl with illustrated book. * Dream Island Laughing Language is the eighteenth release by the L.A. based Lucky Dragons. * The album details the continuing pursuit of a humble and joyous, drippy and explosive, smoldering and upset music for our experience in America right now - messages of unrest have long failed to be clearly understood, solitude and empty organization have given way to a very current volcanic desire for togetherness. Genre has never been less important - influences and ideas are consumed and digested and released in the spirit of a culture larger than music as it is bought and sold. You could call it post-noise, or post-anything you like, but we would prefer to call it pre-something. * Tracklisting: 01 clipped gongs 02 starter culture 03 drinking dirty water 04 morning ritual 05 free guys by the sea 06 desert rose 07 mirror friends 08 band hammer 09 givers 10 my are singing 11 i keep waiting for earthquakes 12 typical hippies 13 wander birds 14 realistic rhythm 15 tune for wind dog 16 wooden cave loop 17 oh i understand BONUS 18 layer hater 19 what layer 20 where’s adam 21 very 1 22 very 2
