Weird release of the week award goes to Domino for the Bertran Burgalat and Robert Wyatt 12". 'This Summer Night' is it's name and I think it's a new track (though I'm not massively familiar with Wyatt's work ....yet). It's cocking weird though.... It almost sound like Pizzicato 5 but with Robert's dulcit tones thrown over it. It kind of works though don't ask me how or why. It's a bit cheesy and fun but then I like cheesy pop. Burgalat famous for his output on the cheese ridden Bungalow label has made an easy listening sounding beat with some 60's style harpsichord noises and loads of cheese strings (not the food...). Robert's voice levels the whole thing out. The flipside is a (nother) Hot Chip mix which I couldn't bring myself to play.

What their label says...

Working alongside French producer and composer Bertrand Burgalat, Robert Wyatt delivers a hymn to the sensuality of a Summer’s evening.
Moving out of the pastoral pop jam of a late evening’s bliss and into the heart of the night, Hot Chip take us right up ‘til dawn. This is something they’re beginning to be expert at by now as this extraordinary maximal/minimal reworking demonstrates.
Hearing Wyatt, immersed in Hot Chip’s R & Bleep, being joined by Alexis Taylor is to hear two generations of English mavericks sharing tips with each other about how to get a proper groove on. This surely should tell you all you need to know about doing the same yourself.
The 12” will be limited to 500 copies only and precedes Domino’s proud reissuing of the entire Robert Wyatt back catalogue on CD and vinyl.
