'Apathy' is the new 7" from Liechtenstein, it's only a little place so it's quite cute that everyone there has got together to form a band. Except I hear they ran out of people before all the places were filled and had to get a drummer in from Macedonia.. That's just cheating. This is a lovely little tune with some especially lovely girly harmonizing over a very clean guitar and slow, minimal drumming. It gives the impression that they know exactly what their strengths are and they've not been tempted to over-egg the pudding as so many other bands do. It's mining a similar sort of girl group sound as The Pipettes but taking it in a much more dreamy direction. I like this quite a lot..

The title track “Apathy”, which offers a contemplation of an alternative reality, is built upon plenty of beautifully arranged vocal harmonies and proves once again that between a sweet sounding pop song and a protest emerges a sparkling assembly. On the flipside you’ll find the dymanic and stirring “Security By Design” where Liechtenstein this time has brightened the sound with a slightly Mexican sounding trumpet, almost like it was cut out from a Californian masterpiece anno 1968.
