What their label says...

(a) This Sweet Love (b) They’re Chasing My Hands

Like many music lovers of his generation James Yuill has a passion for both the emotional songwriting and atmospheres of artists such as Nick Drake, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens and the visceral beats and dynamic rhythms of Justice, Chemical Brothers and Aphex Twin. Unlike anyone else however, James has fused these seemingly disparate influences into a magical sound of his very own, something that hasn't gone un-noticed by radio.

Whilst 2008 has seen James Yuill rapidly earning himself a place in the hearts and iPods of the UK's more switched on music lovers, we should make it clear that James has, as they say, paid his dues. After his first musical endeavours in local bands proved unsatisfactory, James headed down the solo path. After a while honing his songwriting he self released an album The Vanilla Disc on-line, and embarked on a tireless gigging schedule which he continues to this day.
In late 2007 James caught the attention of the fledgling Chess Club label who released his first ever single 'No Surprise' in early 2008. With word of his unique talent now spreading rapidly the small but perfectly formed musical powerhouse that is Moshi Moshi stepped in, releasing the single 'No Pins Allowed' in August and now gearing up for the release of Turning Down Water For Air in October.

If the singles 'No Surprise' and 'No Pins Allowed' hinted heavily at James Yuill's unique talent, it is with the album Turning Down Water For Air that the full scope of his musical vision becomes apparent. Combining tightly worked songwriting with some artfully executed beat science, this is a sonically challenging yet emotionally engaging album that announces the arrival of a truly original young artist.
James Yuill's immersion in music is complete.
