Absentee are a band I struggled with on last hearing due to their vocalist having a rather erm...abrasive voice. He's toned it down to a David Berman-esque low end timbre and the music is straight ahead balls out melodic indie pop on new single 'Boy, Did She Teach You Nothing?' 'Tis kinda like old skool Psychedelic Furs brat pack anthem meets nu-school Pigeon Detectives terrace sing-a-long but the vocals are like Silver Jews meet Smog!! Go figure! It's a pretty cool, joyous radio friendly romp with lots of chiming shaggy guitars & euphoria about it. That chorus is so catchy too. Can see this destroying the airwaves!
