Bon Iver is one of the years surprise successes and Justin Vernon's take on Autumnal skewed folk is very much just the ticket in the office today. There's this lovely little 7" in called 'For Emma' which has this slightly plaintive near falsetto over an incredibly simple guitar strum that ends up giving birth to the bastard child of My Morning Jacket & Beirut with lots of homely horn flourishes taking it to it's climax. It's a really nice tune, an extremely homely love song with heart. Tasty sleeve as well, really Jandek stylee. Very ltd!

What their label says...

‘For Emma’ is the title track of said album and goes some way to explain the inspiration for Vernon’s catharsis. The song is written in the form of a play, using dialogue as lyrics in its depiction of a relationship break up; “go find another lover, to bring a... to string along”. Conversely, it is the most upbeat track from the album and the only track to feature a horn section.
The B-side for this release is rounded out with the majestic ambience of exclusive track ‘Wisconsin’. It proves to be an outstanding bonus that sits firmly within his small but perfectly formed canon.
